Short Note New Relationships between Vs, Thickness of Sediments, and Resonance Frequency Calculated by the H/V Ratio of Seismic Noise for the Cologne Area (Germany)
نویسنده
چکیده
Noise measurements were carried out in the Cologne area (Germany), and the resonance frequency of each site was estimated from the main peak in the spectral ratio between the horizontal and vertical component. For 32 of these sites, the thickness of the sedimentary cover was known from boreholes, and a clear correlation between resonance frequency and sediment thickness was observed. A formula that correlates cover thickness with frequency of the main peak in the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio was derived. In addition, a best-fitting shearwave-velocity distribution with depth, vs(z), as well as a relationship between average shear-wave velocity V ¢s and thickness of the sedimentary cover, was calculated. By using all of the noise measurements and applying the derived relationships, we obtained a subsoil classification for the Cologne area.

Introduction Radiofrequency planar microcoils are used to increase the resolution of magnetic resonance images of small samples. In this study, we aimed to design and fabricate a spiral planar microcoil constructed on a double-sided printed circuit board (PCB). It has four rings with an internal diameter of 241 microns tuned and matched at 63.8 MHz. Materials and Methods To achieve the maximum ...

The most promising method for micro scale energy scavenging is via vibration energy harvesting which converts mechanical energy to electrical energy. Using piezoelectric cantilevers is the most common method for vibration energy harvesting. Changing the shape of the cantilevers can lead to changing the generated output voltage and power. In this work vibration energy harvesting via piezoelectri...
متن کاملApplication of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation
Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...
متن کاملDetecting buried channels using linear least square RGB color stacking method based on deconvolutive short time Fourier transform
Buried channels are one of the stratigraphic hydrocarbon traps. They are often filled with a variety of porous and permeable sediments so they are important in the exploration of oil and gas reservoirs. In reflection seismic data, high-frequency components are sensitive to the channel thickness, whereas, low-frequency components are sensitive to the channel infill materials. Therefore, decompos...
